Jharkhand Governor inaugrates 33rd Markaz conference

Kozhikode, Jan 7 (PTI) Jharkhand Governor M O H Farooq, today inaugurated the 33rd anniversary conference of Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssuniyya, a socio-cultural and educational institution, at the nearby Karanthur here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq said Markaz was one of the fastest growing socio-cultural and educational institution in the country, catering to over 50,000 students.
'Markaz's motto that'knowledge is every citizen's birthright', makes it the ideal destination for anyone whose driving force in life is an insatiable thirst for knowledge', he said.
Farooq said'knowledge, if taken in comprehensive sense, is more than mere collection of information, it is the acutal unlocking of the human mind that has shaped the course of human history'.

Markaz has built an international reputation for its contribution to Islamic education, he said, adding Markaz was one of the few institutions in the world to get the coveted recognition of AI-Azhar University of Cairo, Egypt.

In a torment ridden world, no knowledge is worthwhile if the mind is bereft of concern for those besieged by anguish, he said.

'Home to thousands of destitute children and a source of relief and comfort for numerous families, this important non-governmental institution of charity has carved a niche for itself amongst the poor and the deprived', he said.

'Its consummate efforts in promoting religious and cultural harmony in a pluralist, secular Indian society has garnered universal acclaim', he said.

Markaz President, Sayyid Ali Bafaqui Thangal, presided.

Markaz General Secretary, Kanthapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar, delivered the introductory speech.
