Indian scholars visit King Faisal Research Center

RIYADH — A warm welcome has been accorded to Sheikh Abubakr Ahmed, general secretary of All India Scholars Council, at the headquarters of King Faisal Foundation in Riyadh. Ahmed is in the Kingdom as the guest of Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. He had an hourlong discussion with Prince Khaled Bin Saud Al-Faisal, foreign relations manager at King Faisal Research and Islamic Center.

During the talks, Prince Khaled Bin Saud expressed his happiness in various educational and charitable activities carried out the Kozhikode-based Jamia Markazu Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya Al-Islamiya, which is also headed by Sheikh Ahmed.

 Prince Faisal Bin Saud, manager of Darul Faisal Cultural Center, was also present at the talks. The two princes accepted an invitation to visit Jamia Markaz in the near future. Ahmed commended the services of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to humanity worldwide and gratefully recalled the contributions done by King Faisal Foundation in the domain of Islamic education, especially for the growth of Arabic language.

Heads of various sections explained their activities to members of the visiting delegation when they toured the premises along with the princes.

Ahmed was accompanied by directors of Jamia Markaz Dr. Abdul Hakim Azhari and Hussain Saquafi Chullikode. Shareef Puthanpalli, Jalil Mattool and Stronglite managing director Abdunnasir were also present.

Ma’din hosts ‘Alive in Our Hearts’ programme in India

Ma’din hosts ‘Alive in Our Hearts’ programme in India Initiative aims to expand ‘Hayyun Fi Quloobina’, the international campaign, to Indian Community for disseminating the harmony message of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

   Thiruvanandapuram: Ma’din Academy inked an agreement with Tabah Foundation, the Abu Dhabi based leading research and consultation entity, which focuses on reformulating modern Islamic discourse, to expand the prestigious ‘Alive in our Hearts’ programme, launched by Tabah Foundation to bond relations with the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in India through various activities and awareness programmes. This will be an innovative programme to spread the harmony message of Prophet in Indian subcontinent.

  The MOU has been signed between Ma’din Acdemy and Tabah Foundation at Tabah’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates by Mr. Noor Al Din Al Harthi, the CEO of Tahab Foundation, and Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil Al Bukhari, chairman of Ma’din Academy at the presence of Sheikh Al Habib Ali Al Jafri, Chairman of Tabah Foundation and representatives from both bodies. Ma’din Academy will implement, under the supervision of Tabah Foundation, a series of activities and programmes to unfold the unique messages of ‘Alive in our Hearts’ programme in India. Furthermore, Tabah Foundation will provide consultations to enable Ma’din Academy to better implement the programme in line with the objectives of two entities to help greater segments of the community to know more on the Prophet’s doctrine of moderation. Conferences, seminars, workshops, media campaigns, social media colloquium, publication of books, releasing of documentaries and scholar’s summit will be part of the year long programme from February 2013- February 2014.
    This is also part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Ma’din Prayer Congregation which has been conducted since 1986 on last Thursday of every lunar month with amazing the participation of hundreds of thousands of people under Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari, the chairman of Ma’din Academy. In conjunction with this event a number of programmes are planned in various counties. International Seminar on Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance will be held at Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital in collaboration with Malaysian prime minister’s depart of National Unity and Integration and International Islamic University Malaysia on February 26-27, 2013. Erudite Seminar will be held in Australia in March. These are part of Interfaith Harmony Initiative of United Nations. A series of seminars and research visit on Ethno Cultural Moorings of Malabar have been planned in New Zealand and Fiji in the month.

   Ma’din Academy has also decided to establish one international research centre to study on Prophet (PBUH) at Ma’din Campus, Malappuram. As part of the Alive Initiative, Ma’din Manuscripts Foundation will begin courses in heritage, manuscripts and codicology. Commenting on the agreement, Al Habib Ali Al Jafri said, “The expansion of ‘Alive in our Hearts’ programme into India, the multicultural country where a huge number of Muslim live, comes at a very important time as the whole world is in urgent need to get closer to biography of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and to learn from his unique leadership, personality lessons for the whole humanity”. “Since the dawn of Islam, the Muslim Nation has closely associated with the great personality of the Prophet and his noble features. Such intellectual and spiritual relation that was relived over generations has purified the ethics of Muslims. We are now in need to consolidate this relation so that Moslems will be the best ambassadors of this noble religion”, he added. Al Jafri went on to say that Tabah Foundation has been honoured to launch ‘Alive in our Heart’ programme some years ago which has been immensely hailed and echoed via its various forums such as Al Mahabbah Awards. “This initiative is part of Tabah Foundation’s role in shedding more lights on the noble biography of the Prophet and to strengthen our relations and love of our community towards our greater Leader, especially amongst the young who are the cornerstone of the progress of our nation in future.” Sheikh Ibrahim Al Bukhari has commended the commitment of Tabah Foundation to bring into centre stage the great biography of the Prophet and his noble life with an aim to spearhead the moderate and forgiving doctrine of Islam. “Ma’din Academy shares with Tabah Foundation such great objectives as there is an urgent need to shed more lights on biography of the Prophet who has taught the humanity great lessons for the goodness and charity”.

  Mr. Noor Aldin Al Harthi, the CEO of Tahab Foundation, said, “We are very pleased to have inked this agreement. Tabah Foundation is keen to support Ma’din Academy with consultation needed to help it attain its objectives. Together, we have prepared a complete programme to implement the initiative for the coming period.” “We are honoured to see that ‘Alive in our Hearts’ that was born in Abu Dhabi becoming a global programme reaching countries such as Jordan, Yemen, the UK and Canada where a great number of people have taken part in its various activities. The success of reaction towards this initiative that was implemented with no marketing or awareness campaign highlights the great love and respect people have towards our great Prophet”, he said. Tabah Foundation launched ‘Alive in our Hearts’ in 2006 to revive and bond relations with the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
    The programme encompassed various lectures, hymns, symposiums and forums as well as organising cultural and religious activities focusing on strengthening relations with the Prophet such as Al Mahabbah Awards that were organised in years 2006 and 2008. Seminar on Islamic Renaissance was held:
Markaz Nagar; “Renaissance of the community is always sticks with the traditional believes of Islam and following educational activities and social welfare as implemented by Jamia Markaz and its brothers institutes” told Ibrahim kunujHonorable Minister of Kerala for public work affairs. He was inaugurating the seminar titled “Islamic renaissance; history and present” organized as a part of Jamia markaz 35th anniversary conference.

   The seminar went down well with credential talks and presentation of eminent scholars and historians on the topic, Sri KV Thomas, Honorable minister of state for Consumer Affairs was the chief guest. Famous historians Dr KKN Kurup and DR Husain Randathani presented the papers. Bava Musliar Kodampuzha chaired over the function. Dr Husain Saqafi Chullikode. Kasim Irikkoor, Basheer Faizy Vennakode were present. Thahir Saquafi welcomed the delegates and Aboobaker G proposed vote of thanks.

“Large numbers of Muslim youngsters are detained and jailed in India seeking their trial, it is shame to a democratic country like India, and government should interfere at least to ensure the justice has been delivered” Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, former home minister of Kerala told while delivering key note address in the seminar titled ‘Renaissance; untold pages’ here at Markaz Nagar. Government is tight lipped in the Political leader Abdul Nasar Maudany,who is in the prison for the last many years, at least from the humanitarian ground the rulers can bail him, charging illicit and fake charges against muslim youth may create major issues including the inclining mentality of youth to sensitive organizations. The mammoth conference of Jamia Markaz starts

Three days long anniversary celebrations of Jamia Markaz has been inaugurated here in Calicut, Kerala,India, With the presence of prominent scholars, social and political leaders over the globe. The Jamia is celebrating its 35th anniversary and 16th convocation conference with unparallel fanfare.

   The conference was inaugurated by Rahman Khan, the union minister for Minority affairs of India, who applauded the humanitarian activities and educational services of the Jamia Markaz. He also told to the Muslim community to pay maximum focus on education and social services and to support the scholars like Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad, the founder of the Jamia, by whom the community is always in frontline in Kerala. With reading the marvelous services of Markaz he assured all possible helps to be extended. He told “Many programs and schemes are being executed for minorities and the government is focusing upon educational development of the Muslim community, but it has limitations, even though the sheikh is creating history without much support from the government”

   The President of Jamia Markaz, Syed Ali Bafakeeh Chaired over the function. Shaikh Abubacker Ahmad alias Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar, the chancellor of the Jamia delivered the key note address and thanked the dignitaries. Professor AK Abdul Hameed welcomed the conference and PKM Saqafi proposed vete of thanks. MP Raghavan, MI Shanavaz, Members of Parliament were addressed the Gathering. Padmasree Asad Moopan, AP Abdul Kareem haji, Syed KS Atakoya Thangal Kumbol, Syed Zainul Abideen, Dr Abdul Hakeem Aazhari were present.

Markaz conference 2013 from today

Union minister to inaugurate event today


Human rights will be the central theme of the 35th conference of Markaz Ssaquafathi Ssunniyya (Sunni cultural centre) to be held at Markaz centre at Karanthur, near here, from Friday to Sunday, Sunni leader Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar has said. Union Minister for Minority Affairs K.A. Rehman will open the event.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Mr. Musliar said Islamic scholars from across the globe, and top political leaders of the country would be in the city for the three-day conference.

One of its highlights would be a convocation ceremony at which 941 students who qualified from Markaz institutions would be awarded certificates. Some would be given certificates for learning the Koran by heart.

Mr. Musliar said the speakers would focus on the cultural, social, and political identity crisis in the country. Special emphasis was being laid on human rights since atrocities against women and children were on the rise across the globe, he said. A session has been earmarked to discuss employer-employee relations since these had come under great strain. Another highlight of the event would be the “Sheik Zayed International peace conference on Saturday. Mr. Musaliar would make “a declaration on protection of human rights” at the valedictory session of the conference on Sunday.

Though no session had been set aside to discuss women’s issues at the conference, special programmes were being held separately for women. Classes were being held on Saturdays at Markaz centre.

SSF blocks many liquor retail centres in Kerala ahead of New Year celebrations

Malappuram: The Sunni Students Federation [SSF] - put up a different protest this time by blocking many retail outlets of the Kerala Beverages Corporation all across the state. The protests was most effective in towns like Malappuram and Ponnani of the Malappuram district, though retail outlets in other district too were not spared. The beverages outlets at Thrissur, Kasargod and Palakkad districts too were shutdown on protest by the Sunni students’ wing.
The SSF workers marched to the liquor outlets by around five in the evening and turned successful in keeping the shutters down, preventing many from celebrating New Year in a manner they cherished to. The SSF rallies were well attended by youths and the organisational leaders were successful in keeping the rallies peaceful until the end without even causing any sought of damage to the public properties; except for the traffic got blocked at many places like the road in front of the Chamravattom beverage Corporation outlet.

Markaz knowledge city: Construction works to start soon

    Kaithapoyil [Kozhikode]: The knowledge city project by Karantur Sunni Markaz, catering some major initiatives in health and education sectors will have its construction works started within days, said Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar. The first stage of the construction works estimated at a cost of around 300 crore INR will be realised within three years, said the top religious scholar from Kerala. “During my visits to foreign countries, the Arabs, the Europeans, Africans and Americans used to ask me whether Markaz could enrol their kids as well in the future. Markaz has undertaken this major initiative – ‘the knowledge city’ taking into consideration their queries as well the memories of a glorious past of the Muslim community in the educational and health sectors,” said AP Aboobacker Musliyar speaking to TCN over phone.

   Markaz is about to celebrate its 35th anniversary this time and the dream project - Knowledge City will be our most cherished dedication to the nation, said the Sunni leader. Renaissance in its real sense takes place when the down-trodden gets liberated. So it is important to stick to the fundamentals of Islam and stand firm on your decision to maintain the rituals and faith associated with it; it is along with this the community should be able to communicate with the trends in the modern world. The Knowledge city so will be the right kind of approach to mould believers towards a much needed renaissance, he informed.

      The project declaration and land acquisition were held at the proposed land at Kaithapoyil on December 23 by Samastha president Abdurahman al Bukhari. Markaz has kept apart 100 acres of land for the project close to the Kozhikode City. The function was attended by several religious scholars. A Unani medical college is expected to start functioning within a year at the proposed knowledge city site. The knowledge city project besides includes a multi-speciality hospital, IT park, Law college, special school, International convention centre and technical educational institute.

     The construction works will progress in accordance with fund collected from the public, and as per the present plans, the whole project will get realised within five years. As soon as the project get realised to its full effect, it will cater almost 20,000 employment opportunities, informed AP Aboobacker Musliyar.
