All set for Ramadan congregation in Kerala ( gulftoday news for Swalath Nagar )


MALAPPURAM: Tens of thousands of people have started pouring in at the Swalath Nagar where the annual prayer meeting will be held on Wednesday.

Organisers say more than half a million believers are expected to take part in the meet, as in the past, and they will take pledge a pledge against terrorism and pray for peace and harmony on the holy night.

“This is the largest prayer congregation in India in the holy month of Ramadan and it is considered as the third largest spiritual meet after Makkah and Madina during Ramadan,” said Sayyid Ibrahimul Khaleelul Bukhari, chairman of Madin Academy who will lead the prayers.

Madin Academy organises the prayer congregation every year on the 27th night of the holy month, taking pledge against terrorism.

This year, the spiritual meet coincides with the celebrations of India’s 65th independence day.

“Here, people congregate in search of the blessing of the greatest night, called Lailathul Qadr, the Night of Power, which is compatible to thousand months,” said Bukhari.

The programme will be telecast and webcast for the benefit of those who could not make it to the venue.

Live streams from different venues will be available at the official website www.mahdinonline.com.

Elaborate arrangements have been made to accommodate thousands of people at Swalat Nagar comprising 14 grounds.

More than a dozen programmes were arranged on the Madin campus as part of the prayer meeting.
The prayers will begin at 4.30pm and continue till to 2.30am on Thursday, extensively engaged by various kinds of activities such as spiritual supplication, invocations, voluntary prayers and repentance (thoubah).

Thousands of women have attended an exclusive session titled “Better Family for Better Nation” on Monday on the campus, which has been witnessing mass Iftars everyday attended by people from all walks of life.

A Ziyarat programme was conducted on Sunday with the intention of finding traditions of “Mahals.” Vision 2012, a special orientation camp for the blind, and Reason for Mercy, a relief campaign, were also conducted as part of the programme.
